They make lovely wines!Leon Stolarskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05277390017788435310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1632929314036232391.post-53048645534141287412010-03-09T21:11:35.949+00:002010-03-09T21:11:35.949+00:00Alan - my Montpeyroux "file" is in Aspir...Alan - my Montpeyroux "file" is in Aspiran but my list would include Aupilhac, Jasse-Castel, Domaine Boisantin (made by daughter at Domaine Saint-Andrieu, has some mature stocks). Ones to watch are Villa Dondona (recent vintages) and a seriously gutsy Carignan from Mas d'Amile.
Virgil Joly is in Saint Saturnin so include that and one would have to delight in Jonquiers, St Jean de Fos, Arboras..........Grahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11282937250538290233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1632929314036232391.post-13654664401235176622010-03-09T10:41:05.303+00:002010-03-09T10:41:05.303+00:00Lovely notes, Leon. I'm pining for Marseillan even in that weather.
Graham and I have already discussed Chabanon on winepages, it does seem things have turned for the worse there, even if I liked the 04 white. I stayed near Limoux three years ago and there are some new, interesting estates being established, still an area to watch even if under a cloud at present.
Graham, what Montpeyroux wines do you favour? I was underwhelmed by Joly last year, maybe it was just the prices, but no QPR. Aupilhac remains one of my favourite Languedoc estates.AlanMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00020464540350211578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1632929314036232391.post-30961846385115372672010-03-09T09:51:52.688+00:002010-03-09T09:51:52.688+00:00Fair comment, Graham, although that 2001 we had th...Fair comment, Graham, although that 2001 we had the next evening was pretty damn good. Clearly, though, they are difficult to taste when young.

On the subject of Montpeyroux, we tasted the current range of wines from Alain Chabanon (from whom I used to import) and they were truly disappointing. There's a guy who - at least on this showing - has lost his way. More about this in a future post.....Leon Stolarskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05277390017788435310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1632929314036232391.post-12265844999963103362010-03-09T09:45:05.588+00:002010-03-09T09:45:05.588+00:00Great report Leon. Didn't bother with it at last years Montpeyroux Toutes Caves Ouvertes.Grahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11282937250538290233noreply@blogger.com
